BACK TO "PROVERBIAL WISDOM", BUT FIRST...

For now, I want to write that the only way I am going to be able to keep going on Xanga is as follows:

I want to keep my posts as short as possible. This means that I will not be posting much about my life, activities, challenges, etc. If I get started on those, it will result in longer posts. In the course of living my life and life's activities, I do not feel the need to write about them all, and don't want to take the time to do so. Therefore, for the time being, I want to return to the series I began and from which I got sidetracked, "Proverbial Wisdom". When that is complete or maybe in connection with it, I may post a quote and/or a joke that I have received via e-mail or read elsewhere.

Also, I may not be able to get around to commenting on subs' posts, but I will try. I have set up my alerts so that a Daily Digest of posts comes to my e-mail, but they arrive the day after they are online. I have an opportunity to read before going online. However, depending on the length of the post and my time constraints, I may not be able to focus on the entire content of the post, and I may not comment right away. Also, as previously mentioned, my priority for commenting on posts is reserved for those who have been fairly regular in commenting on my site.

"PROVERBIAL WISDOM" CONTINUED, CHAPTER 18:

Well, the previous chapter 17 was full of bits of wisdom. I find chapter 18 to be so full of wisdom and truths about life, so I recommend reading the entire chapter in some version. Because it is in contemporary English, I tend to prefer Good News Bible: Today's English Version. Here are samples of the gems therein; but there are so many, so I will stay with chapter 18 for succeeding posts for awhile:

"Sin and shame go together. Lose your honor, and you will get scorn in its place." (verse 3)

"Gossip is so tasty--how we love to swallow it." (verse 8)

"Listen before you answer. If you don't, you are being stupid and insulting." (verse 13)

Paraphrase of "most interesting man" commercial: "Stay thirsty (for wisdom), my friends."

~~Peace,  Joy, Prayers 'n Love, Donna

Sin and shame. I always hated that getting caught part.

Dear Donna,
I got into blogging because moderating a writing group was taking up far too much of my time. My best blogging years ended around 2008. I like to joke that my "sub list" is so old some of the people are actually dead and gone.
2008 is the year Joel died, and I moved into my mobile home in 2009. Although I've never stopped altogether, and won't as long as my creativity keeps energizing me, for long periods I haven't paid attention to Xanga at all.
I whittled down the "sub list" to 74 blogs, but I never use it. I've found a system which works incredibly well for me. Every time I get a comment on my blog, I make an attempt to "return" it. (Including this one. I'm answering comments from my Oct. 3 entry.)
As I'm fond of telling people. Blogging should be fun, not a chore. As soon as one tries to treat it like a job, the fun gets sucked out of it.
(Running a Poetry group was, essentially, work. I critiqued every poem posted on the site, wrote prompts, etc.)
I'm sure you know by now, what I like most to read are the daily goings on of the people who read my blog, if not marvel at their writing prowess or photographic skills. I spent a lot of effort getting rid of all the jokes, etc, which used to show up in my email. But if that's what you post, that's what I'll see when I visit, and I'll find some way of making a comment. Even if it's just a chuckle. Most of us who have been "here" a long enough time have a group of people with whom we feel comfortable. I even remember how I was "introduced" to many bloggers. If memory serves, you were one of Bob Lipton's (@twoberry)correspondent's and began visiting me from comments I left on his blog. I gotta see if he's still blogging.)
I agree very much about sin and shame going together. And they should go together out the door and get away.
I don't agree with gossip being tasty, however, even if the verse does come from scripture. Most gossip is anything but,as far as I'm concerned.
But what do I know?
Until next time, I remain, as always,
Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool

I loved that last one (from the "Dos Equis" guy, I believe).  And ...

@baldmike2004 - It's flattering to see my name in print, and gratifying that you two beautiful people came to know each other through me.  I also thoroughly enjoy reading through your comments, whether it's at my place or someone else's.

And yes, I'm still blogging.  I wish I could stick to topics that hold the interest of my readers, but the blog IS for me, first of all, just as yours is for you and Donna's is for Donna, as should be the case.  So I post word lists, and links to articles I find amusing or edifying, and only occasionally document what's going on in my life or in the world, and love the fact that I'm not shy about letting the world look over my shoulder as I post what interests ME.

@twoberry - Thanks Twoberry! Yes, the quote is from the "Dos Equis" guy commercial, who sometimes is referred to as "the most interesting man". I agree, we write about what we want to at the time. If it's not what others want to read, that's their decision. Because you are faithful in checking my site, I will go to yours just to let you know I've read & just to keep in touch.

Sadly, a good listener is hard to find...Isn't it interesting how much we like people who are good listeners.

It would be a different world if we all lived according to the wisdom found in proverbs. So many deal with anger and an admonishment not to be too quick to speak.

I won't be blogging much at all. I'm here today ...John is not well at all and sleeps most of the day. I miss him. It's not that he's gone but he isn't much company. Oh...guess I'm rambling.

@josaju - Thank you so much for visiting. I am sorry to read that John is not well. He and you, too, are in my prayers. I read that you are leaving Xanga & I understand. I am trying not to be on FB too long, so I may have missed your posts on there. I will try to continue the series on Proverbs. Chapter 18 really is rich, so I have other quotes from it to add. I don't think I will have time today, however. Suffice it to say that I have had some time consuming events to deal with in previous week.  ~~Blessings, Prayers 'n Love
